In an increasingly dynamic market, professional growth in IT is the result of consistency, continuous adaptation, and, above all, well-developed soft skills. The career journey of Alexandre Faria, now a Service Manager at Zallpy, is a vivid example of how leadership is built in the technology sector.

With more than 30 years of experience in technology, including 13 years at Zallpy, Alexandre shares insights on Insiders that speak directly to the core of those seeking career growth without losing sight of what truly matters: the people behind the systems.

A journey that mirrors Zallpy’s evolution

“I joined Zallpy to manage the operation of a client in the vertical mobility sector. At the time, there were just seven of us in a room in downtown Porto Alegre, Brazil. Today, we are more than 700 people operating globally.”

Alexandre’s words reflect the professional growth of someone who has been there from the beginning. His journey mirrors the company’s development: step by step, with sustainability, strategy, and a great deal of commitment.

As a Service Manager, he currently leads a team of nearly 50 people. His responsibilities range from the technical operation of legacy systems to relationships with business areas, always focused on ensuring stability, continuous evolution, and high-value deliveries for clients.

From developer to leader: lessons from someone who lived the journey

The transition from developer to Service Manager does not happen overnight. It requires time, hands-on learning, and, above all, a genuine willingness to listen, guide, and grow alongside the team.

“I’m proud to have led an operation that grew together with me. I saw this story unfold and became part of it.”

For those at the beginning of their careers, Alexandre shares a few key pieces of advice:

  • Do not underestimate the power of communication;
  • Seek to understand the impact of your work on the business;
  • Invest in continuous learning;
  • Develop your ability to adapt and collaborate.

These pillars are essential for anyone aiming for solid, sustainable professional growth in the technology field.

The foundation of IT leadership: focusing on people

Alexandre’s story also shows that leadership in technology is built on much more than technical knowledge. Although he holds a degree in Computer Science from PUC-RS and a postgraduate degree in Business Management, he emphasizes that soft skills are what truly set a leader apart.

“We work with people. Our clients are made of people. Knowing how to treat each person with respect, dignity, commitment, and engagement is fundamental.”

In his view, skills such as clear communication, empathy, the ability to give and receive feedback, and business understanding are just as important as mastery of programming languages, frameworks, or methodologies.

It is this balance that makes the difference when leading complex operations and positions the leader as a connection point between strategy and execution.

The challenge of constant learning

Technology never stops. And for a Service Manager like Alexandre, staying up to date is more than an advantage, it is a necessity.

“The IT market requires us to stay current. We need to know what is happening not only in Brazil, but around the world.”

He mentions continuous consumption of content such as TEDx talks, specialized websites, courses, and even close attention to advances in artificial intelligence as ways to stay current.

“Study prompt engineering, study English, algorithms, and programming logic,” he advises.

But he also acknowledges that the real differentiator is not only in hard skills: hard skills can be trained. Soft skills are lived.

Growth must come with purpose

The IT market offers countless opportunities for professional growth, but the most inspiring stories are those guided by a greater purpose.

This full conversation is available in the premiere episode of Insiders. The first season is already live, and you can watch it on our channel.

Alexandre’s story shows that growth in IT is less about speed and more about purpose. And leadership, in the end, is about growing with others, not alone.
